Calendar of Events for 2018


10 Mar - Chapter sponsored pizza/soda luncheon at the Tucson VA Community Living Center (CLC).  Chapter will arrange delivery of pizza and sodas.  Members (and hopefully some wives) serve lunch to residents of CLC and visit with the during lunch. Meet at the front door to the CLC (Bldg 60) at 1100.  Pizzas will be delivered at 1115 with first serving at 1130 and second at 1230. Directions:  head south on I-10 to Tucson, take 6th Ave exit and go west to Ajo Street, turn left to VA entrance.
Update:  Thanks to all the Chapter members who attended the Tucson VA CLC Pizza Party.  We had really good attendance at the event with about a dozen members attending.  This was the first time for the Tucson center, and based on the discussion with the Rec Service representative, nothing like this has been done in quite some time there! We had a couple of our new members attend  also, Jeff Osterhoudt...who happens to work at the CLC and James Liljefelt and his wife Ginny.  They are all "Tucsonians". 


Apr-May - Presentation of SFA JROTC Awards to deserving Cadets at selected High School JROTC programs in the valley.  This is a "grip and grin", no speeches required (or desired).  Presenters will present SFA JROTC Award (Medal, Certificate, and Chapter Coin) to selected Cadet and get photos for possible inclusion in The Drop. Chapter will get the awards to the schools ahead of presentations.

26 May - SGT Walter Bruce Foote Memorial Day Gravesite Ceremony, Safford AZ.  Chapter members usually meet for breakfast at Jerry's Restaurant in Safford around 0800 hours, then proceed to the gravesite of our Chapter namesake, SGT Foote, about 0930 for 1000 ceremony.  This ceremony is supported by the Safford American Legion (Honor Guard, Firing Party, Bugler).  After the ceremony, the Safford American Legion Ladies Auxiliary provides a great lunch at the American Legion Post.

Jun - SFA National Convention, El Paso TX

23 Jun - Chapter sponsored pizza/soda luncheon at the Prescott VA Community Living Center (CLC).  Chapter will arrange delivery of pizza and sodas.  Members (and hopefully some wives) serve lunch to residents of CLC and visit with the during lunch. Details will be sent out as we get closer to date. After the CLC Luncheon, members assemble at Dan DuRocher's house for meeting and BBQ.

20-22 Jul - Summer Getaway, Tal-Wi-Wi Lodge, Alpine AZ. A chance for members to escape the valley heat and enjoy the cool weather in the White Mountains.  Members usually start assembling Friday evening for a casual dinner.  Saturday starts with breakfast, then off to our "improvised" range for a few hours of weapons familiarization (bring LOTS of guns and ammo).  After our range day, members will assemble back at the Tal-Wi-Wi Lodge for a business meeting about 1400 hours. We will request a block of rooms for the weekend.  Members are encouraged to call early to lock in room reservations.  Tal-Wi-Wi Lodge reservations #928-339-4319.

8 Sep - Fall Business Meeting, Scottsdale VFW.

17 Oct - Chapter sponsored pizza/soda luncheon at the Phoenix VA Community Living Center (CLC).  Chapter will arrange delivery of pizza and sodas.  Members (and hopefully some wives) serve lunch to residents of CLC and visit with the during lunch. Details will be sent out as we get closer to date.

10 Nov - Veterans Day Picnic, Red Mountain Park, Mesa. 1-5 PM. We will be at the "Wren" Ramada (East side of park). Rangers and other Veteran organizations are invited to attend. Chapter will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas and beer.  Ladies Auxiliary coordinates/provides side dishes and desserts. Chapter is asking for $5 donation per adult to help defray cost of food.

8 Dec - Christmas Party (Buffet Dinner), tentatively scheduled for Briarwood Country Club, Sun City. Cost of the dinner is estimated $25-30 per adult.  Brings LOTS of money, we'll have plenty of raffle prizes, including the "big" raffle for a Sig 320 (9mm).  Gun raffle tickets will also be mailed out to members.
